Island is the first environment for TrackMania Sunrise. It was shown during the LAN 2004, where community members were able to test a development version.

Style
Island is described by Nadeo as "[an environment with a] wide variety of blocks [... and] ultra-high speed."
Car
The car simulated in the Island environment is described by Nadeo as "sleek, high-powered [... and] sporty." The top speed of the Island car is 1000 kilometers per hour. The Island car is widely considered to be the easiest car to handle in Trackmania Sunrise.

Popularity
Island is widely considered the best environment in Trackmania Sunrise, probably because of its inclusion in the widely played Sunrise Demo (202 Mb).
Gameplay
The Island gameplay is obviously the most accessible. This environment is purely arcade, with very large roads letting the sport vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 1000 km/h (displayed). In this paradisiac island landscape, players can drive their cars as simply as possible thanks to reactive behavior, but not too much, and a lightning acceleration of the racing car. Moreover, blocks are numerous and varied letting the most total freedom in tracks' construction. This intentional accessibility makes, in some people's opinion, the environment too centered on "ladder" and indeed it is common to see some servers proposing maps only on this environment.

Updates in Extreme
A wide variety of blocks were added to Island with the release of TrackMania Sunrise Extreme. However, many authors have complained that relatively few of these blocks were actually useful. The most notorious block to be added in Extreme, however, was the red boost, which accelerates the car at an extreme rate. There have been many complaints pertaining to the perceived overuse of the red boost in Island.
