Game Music
From TM Wiki
Many players of the TrackMania series have found that the default music becomes tiresome, especially due to its often repetitive nature. Fortunately, it is possible to append new selections of music to the game and even remove the default music entirely.
Folder Structure
In every TrackMania game released, music files are located in roughly the same place. For environmental music which plays while driving, the path is:
[game]\gamedata\skins\[environment]\music
It is also possible to add music to the menu. The music files should go in:
[game]\gamedata\skins\menu\music
Format
The TrackMania series of games uses the somewhat obscure Ogg Vorbis format. Many programs are capable of converting other audio formats to Ogg Vorbis, but the editor's personal preference is Audacity.
Tutorial
An example of how music should be inserted into a game.
For this tutorial, we'll assume that you want to convert an MP3 file into a format compatible with Trackmania Sunrise and play the file while racing in the Island environment.
First, you must convert the music. For the purposes of this tutorial, I will use the free program Audacity. Open your music file in Audacity, then choose File->Export as Ogg Vorbis. Save the file in trackmania sunrise\gamdata\skins\"environment"\music(where "environment" is the environment where you'll hear the music). Now you can add the IDv3 Tags to the files (e.g. with Winamp: Alt+F3). At every starts a new musictrack, Trackmania shows up the IDv3 tags: Title, interpretet, album ??? and so on?
The next time you play in the Island environment, the file should play. Note that all files in the directory play in alphabetical and numeric order, allowing you to create playlists by numbering files.
