Introduction

Principle

In TrackMania, a mod doesn't modify the entire game, as in Half-Life for example. It doesn't alter the way to play and doesn't add new features, it only changes the visual aspect of the game by introducing new textures. Some of these include "ports" (that is, conversions) of textures from one environment to another, but most are largely original.

Usage

Where can I download mods?

There is a big base of mods on http://tmmod.220v.org and on the official forum.

Where do I put the mod file in?

Mods must be put in a special directory:

  • For Trackmania Original
    • Alpine  : Put them in c:\program files\Trackmania\GameData\Skins\Alpine\Mod
    • Speed : Put them in c:\program files\Trackmania\GameData\Skins\Speed\Mod
    • Rally : Put them in c:\program files\Trackmania\GameData\Skins\Rally\Mod
  • For Trackmania Sunrise
    • Island  : Put them in c:\program files\Trackmania Sunrise\GameData\Skins\Island\Mod
    • Bay : Put them in c:\program files\Trackmania Sunrise\GameData\Skins\Bay\Mod
    • Coast : Put them in c:\program files\Trackmania Sunrise\GameData\Skins\Coast\Mod
  • For Trackmania Nations
    • Stadium  : Put them in c:\program files\Trackmania Nations\GameData\Skins\Stadium\Mod

If you haven't installed the game in c:\program files, you must adapt the path accordingly. ;)

- If the "Mod" directory doesn't exist, create it ;)
- You must not unzip the mod file.

How to change the mod of an existing track?

If you have begun a track without a mod and you want to apply one, no problem. When you have opened the track editing list, simply hold the "Ctrl" key and click on your map. A window will appear where you can choose a mod.

Note: You need to save your track to finally apply the mod!
