P2P
The P2P (peer to peer) system is a decentralized connection protocol which allows clients to share their files. In TrackMania, it is mainly used so that other players can see each other's car skins, avatars, mods...
Caution, the P2P system will only be active in case you bought a TM game with a player key.
- P2P will be enabled in these games: TMO, TMS/TMSX, TMU/TMUF.
- P2P will be disabled in these free games: TMN and TMNF.

[edit] If you have TMN or TMNF
In order to unlock the P2P functions of these games, you'll have to authenticate your account with a bought key, as described below.
[edit] TMNF
Please read Upgrading TMNF to TMUF.
[edit] TMN (ESWC)
You have to have TMS/TMSX, TMO or TMU. Some TMU keys might not work, your best bet is to try them.
Now, go to Trackmanianations.com and fill in the required fields. After about 48h, P2P functions will be unlocked, allowing other players to see your skins/avatars.
[edit] After enabling the P2P system
For the others to be able to see your skins, you have to do the following:
- run the launcher.
- for TMNF/TMUF: in "Configure", make sure parental control is disabled.
- in "Configure" + "Advanced" + "PeerToPeer", enable the "Enable download", "Enable upload" and "Enable locators" options.
- in "Configure" + "Advanced" + "Game", make sure the "Ignore Player Skins" option is unchecked.
- run the game.
- in your Profile, check in the "Advanced" menu, that the "Show avatars" and "Allow custom model cars" options are enabled.
- open the game's and P2P's ports (generally 2350 and 3450 in TCP and UDP) in your firewall(s) and your modem/router.
- Certain ISPs may break or limit P2P connections. If this happens, you should try changing the P2P port from 3450 to 80 (HTTP). Eventually, open the 80 port in TCP and UDP in your firewall and modem/router.
