The P2P (peer to peer) system enables players to share their custom car skins with other players without going via the host.
Taking this extra load off the server helps reduce lag as there is less stress on the hosts connection.
Alternative
Users who cannot use the Peer-to-peer option can use locator files which is deliver the download url to other players via the host. Using this system is much quicker than P2P but requires web-hosting with direct linking.
