Port Forwarding

From TM Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

To host a Trackmania server and share your cars via the peer-to-peer you will need to allow traffic to be directed through port 2350. (2350 is the default and can be changed via the network options)

You can check your setup by opening the Trackmania server browser in-game and visiting https://www.grc.com/x/portprobe=2350

If the port is OPEN! you have port forwarding set up correctly.

Setting up a router

If the test result shows the port is Stealth you will need to login to your router and configure port forwarding.

Netgear Routers

1) Login to your router (usually http://192.168.0.1 via your browser)

2) Give your computer a static internal IP within Lan IP setup (eg 192.168.0.10)

3) Services > Add custom service 4) Add info as follows

Service Definition
Name: Trackmania
Type: UDP
Start Port: 2350
Finish Port: 2350 Click Apply

5) Firewall Rules > Outbound Services > Add

6) Add info as follows

 Outbound Services
Service : Trackmania (Select above service from list)
 Action : Allow Always
 LAN Users : Single Address
start: 192.168.0.10 (The internal IP of your computer)
finish: 192.168.0.10 (The internal IP of your computer)
 WAN Users : Any
 start:
 finish:
 Log : Never Click Apply

7) Firewall Rules > Inbound Services > Add > Repeat step 6

Conclusion

Any traffic sent via port 2350 will now be directed to your computer and will not be filtered by the router. I would recommend also using a software firewall for complete protection.

If you want more than one computer to play Trackmania online at the same time you will need to repeat the steps above with a different internal IP (eg 192.169.0.12) and port (eg 2351) The advanced network options will also need to be changed to match the port. This will make sure the router knows what data needs to go to each PC.
