Screenshot
From TM Wiki
Screenshots a.k.a. screenies are not integral part of Trackmania, although all versions of the game do support making one. However you might be challenged to make a "screenie" if you want to upload your track to TMX.
It is relatively easy to make a screenshot, but you will need a graphical editing program, which at least supports resizing an image and saving it as JPG file.
If you don't want to use a graphical editor program, you might be lucky with an online image repository or online resizing service, which both can resize the image you upload. However the screenshots saved by Trackmania are in the feisty bmp format and thus usually larger than those online services allow as maximum image file size. You might be lucky in finding an online image service which accepts your screenshot, but it might be more rewarding to use a graphical editing program since you can also use it to put text and effects in your screenshot.

Making the Screenshot
A screenshot is made by simply pressing F10 in the game. This will produce a file ScreenShot01.bmp the first time, ScreenShot02.bmp the second time and so on. Those files will be saved to your personal game directory under ../My Documents/Trackmania United or in the program directory for the older games.
With this method you can make a screenshot while racing a track, while watching a replay or while you have loaded a replay into the editor.
Doing it with the replay editor in edit mode has the advantage that you can position the camera like you want and even where you cannot go with the car while racing.
If you want to make a screenshot while racing/driving around, position the car like you want, then press * on the numpad to make head-up display (HUD) disappear before pressing F10.
If you want to make a screenshot in the replay editor, position the camera like you want, then press tab to make the view fullscreen before pressing F10.
Now you have a screenshot on disk.
Editing the Screenshot
All you need to do is to open such a file with an graphical editing program, resize the picture to 320x240 pixels and save it as jpg file.
This is sufficient for a screenshot, but just basics though. Most graphical editing programs allow you to sharpen or blur your image, to add text to it and to do lots of other fancy stuff.
Uploading the Screenshot
Once you actually have a jpg file in the size of 320x240 pixels, you can easily upload your screenshot to TMX along with your track.
Some track builders also spend quite a bit time on their screenshots and want other users to see their works in a reasonable resolution like 1024x768 pixels. Although you cannot upload an image of such size to TMX, you can always put it on a file sharing service and insert a link to the image into your TMX author comment.
